The philopsophical significance of this is jaw dropping. I’m struggling to find the best way to relate it to people.

The enemy is claiming we have no legal (or moral) right to be independent. They are claiming jurisdiction over the source of life.

For those of faith there’s an easy way to describe this. It’s blasphemy. But there’s a lot of secularists and athiests out there.

I’m worried it will be seen as “just another tax” or form of privatisation. It is not. It’s the ultimate declation of ownership.

The Hopkins Phenomenon

People keep going on about a person called Hopkins. At the risk of giving even more undeserved attention to the subject, I’ll just say the following, not as anything personal, but to illustrate a phenomenon she typifies.

She’s an A1 example of why people are turning their backs on mainstream media (MSM)

She emerged from a reality type game show thing, where doing stupid tasks at the behest of some bighead is deemed “serious” and something akin to “the world of business”.

I don’t know much about her beyond that because I’ve never managed to listen to her for more than perhaps 30 seconds. What I did hear tended to be stupid, strange, reactionary and pompous.

Now it seems there is an unwritten law that she is to be given airtime to spout her bibble at least once a week. People disliking and disagreeing with her doesn’t dissuade the broadcasters – that’s part of the attraction, beyond her being a general spokesperson for Project Hate.

Then, in a circle of self perpetuating bullshit, there’s a strong magnification of her own belief in the myth of her credibility, relevance and righteousness.

It would probably be more informative to listen to random people on a Facebook thread, but informative isn’t what any of this is about. It’s just wall to wall shite – clunking simplistic views, turgid clichés, general noise and sensationalism.

People increasingly get their opinions from non or less “famous” folk via blogs, internet radio and other sources, rather than endure panto level rent-a-gobs served up by the MSM, with which less and less people bother.

So, in desperation, the MSM get more and more sensationalist and stupid. It’s all they really know.

Groundhog Hate:Time To Turn Off And Tune Out (Tell Your Friends)

The run up to the General Election will see Tories announcing new policies attacking the poor and migrants, on at least a weekly basis.

http://politics.co.uk/news/2014/01/19/tories-will-announce-new-anti-immigrant-policies-every-week

Their election strategy is overseen by Lynton Crosby, a nasty piece of work who happens to be an immigrant. But don’t panic! He won’t destroy the economy or steal children like the horrid type of immigrant. He’s Australian (and not one of the yucky dark brown ones who’ve lived there for eons).  So breathe easy, he’s a more acceptable immigrant because…well…you know…

It need not be emphasised that these endless attacks are based on wanton disinformation, fear and the stoking of hate. Nor need it be over-stated that they serve as a distraction from the systemic crimes and psychopathy of global finance capital and its servant governments.

So many of us make these points so repeatedly that we must be at the point of diminishing returns. So I’m more concerned that the broad population better understand the scale of the takeover of news management, and that we encourage them to turn their backs on it.

For it’s often not what’s said in each item/debate that matters as much as how and why that item/debate is being aired in the first place. Filling 24 hour news media with limited budget often leads to a very lazy scheduling of “talking points”. Standards have deteriorated. Supposedly credible “journalists” are endlessly manipulated. “Flat Earth News” by Nick Davies remains a prime work on this topic.

Each Tory policy announcement will command hours of phone-ins, acres of newspaper coverage and squillions of pixels online. That’s the idea. Orwell’s “2 minute Hate” turns out to have been a severe under-estimation. It’s become a 24/7 operation.

The tagline of this blog, “Because the establishment thinks we’re stupid” is genuinely true. Public Relations, going back at least as far as Edward Bernays, has expertly and purposefully targeted our psychological weak spots.

I believe one of the best hopes we have is to continuously undermine people’s faith in, and dependence on, mainstream media narratives. It’s a message that is often very well received.

I used to be glued to mainstream news (typically via large amounts of Radios 4 and 5). Around a year ago the fuse to my radio blew, I didn’t sort it out for a week. By then, I realised how much better I felt, free from the constant irritation. Now I just check in from time to time, mostly to keep up with what the lies are, and how they are being told.

We can easily keep track of what’s going on without drip feeding ourselves on psychic toxins. Much of what we get in social media newsfeeds may be from establishment sources, but we can be more objective and selective about what we digest, instead of having the propagandameisters dictate the script. The “debate” served by our own mainstream media is largely utter tripe, and deeply predictable.

From an early age I watched BBC Question Time with religious devotion, but stopped about 3 years ago, and don’t miss it a jot. At once both pompous and turgid, the majority of what is said by panellists is a result of party-line briefing carried out a few hours beforehand. We can know what nonsense is being spouted via Twitter and watch any few worthwhile minutes on YouTube later.

“Alternative” news sources may not always be reliable, but we can have our eyes open about that, and the competition for credibility from the mainstream is increasingly flimsy. There’s also a broader range of establishment sources. Although it’s a state broadcaster with a deep bias, Russia Today has become very popular for at least having a different bias to break the monotony. While it shouldn’t be relied on for objectivity about Putin & Co, it often presents a fresh critique of the misdeeds of the US and UK establishments.

Finally, I accept it’s easy enough for me to say all this, as I’m not a victim of the hate agenda.  But many are, for example the number of children who report having been the victims of racist bullying, which has increased sharply.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/education/education-news/racist-bullying-farright-agenda-on-immigration-being-taken-into-classrooms-9045148.html

No apology from the filth responsible, it hardly got discussed at all. The establishment acts like it is taken as read that bullying is bad, while it’s actually the well-head of bullying in our society.

Knowing who is being attacked and how by bully-scum politicians and press is reason to stay abreast of the agendas and spin.  But it’s not a reason to subject oneself to constant repetition of the filth and the consequent anger.  Buddhists say that to be angry at someone is like drinking poison and expecting them to die.

It’s high time we turned our backs on endless concocted, bilious narratives. We should encourage others to do the same.

Expenses Scandal Pt 96, (How To Look Like Corruption Is Being Tackled Without Actually Bothering.)

Stand by for action!

None other than Nick Clegg has called for reform to The House Of Lords after this week’s Mirror story about Lord Hanningfield, caught claiming £300 a day for showing up, hanging around for maybe long enough to enjoy the heavily subsidised restaurants and bars* , before disappearing off again (11 of 19 days he was there for less than 40 minutes).

Of course, Hanningfield is replete with excuses, which might be more convincing had he not already been in prison for expenses related crimes.  As with all these stories, anyone with a passing knowledge of establishment politics knows this has gone on for generations,  and we can at least trust Hanningfield when he says that scores of others behave in exactly the same way. The shock value is nil, but it needs to keep being reported because nothing is done.

Clegg’s call for something to be done can only underline how unlikely it is that anything will be done (unless it’s the exact opposite, and a tripling of fraud is allowed).

In any case, here’s the establishment “What To Say” as this issue trudges around again for the umpteenth time:

1) Wait till people are caught till calling for change.

2) Wait till it’s apparent that corruption is systemic, going through well trodden “isolated case” then “few rotten apples” blags.

3) Then say that THINGS MUST CHANGE!!

4) Fill endless hours of TV and radio, and acres of newspapers with the same talking heads and overpaid columnists reheating the same guff from previous scandals.

5) Order a COMPREHENSIVE INQUIRY (oooh….ahh!!!).

6) Make sure the inquiry is in safe (and very well paid) hands. Being made Chair of an important inquiry is a classic political favour.

5) Kick it all about for a couple of years, assuaging disgruntled corrupt people, before punting into the long grass saying “lessons have been learned”.

6) Use the general smokescreens as cover for ongoing corruption elsewhere, such as policy for sale (£100k to £250 for “premier league” influence), lobbying, bribes and MPs for hire (1£k to £7K per day)

7) If small changes are eventually applied, be sure to exaggerate their effect, and allow plenty of loopholes and compensations elsewhere.

8) Remember at all times to treat the public as if they are very very stupid.

* For the record, here’s a link to catering at The Commons (Lords seems harder to find, but won’t be dis-similar). Top posh-nosh subsidised by serfs, who can only expect something like a Subways for the same money.

Courts, Celebs And Cesspit Tabloids.

Two high profile court cases are getting at least as much attention for side-issues to the accusations than the accusation themselves.

The phone hacking trial is immensely challenging and complex for jurors, press and us to follow. So there is an increasing tendency to focus on some very out-of-date gossip that emerges from celebs and others having been spied on.

Another case has brought someone’s day to day life to the fore, to be pored over endlessly by varied sections of the media.
There is increasing evidence that someone, not any of the accused, has a drug problem. She is famous for cooking shows on the telly, has a famous dad (former politician) and a media based brother who happens to be MI6.

The daily front page goading of anyone who seems to such a problem, no matter their “celebrity”, is deeply disgusting. Tabloid media are the biggest bullies in the nation. Bar none. Racism, sexism…you name it…they love to stir it up.

From there, children and adults alike get the message that it’s ok to indulge in nasty, scorning gossip, speculation, lies and hate.

One day they may hound someone famous to suicide. Less famous victims of tabloid bullying, such as Lucy Meadows, have already taken that path, but they don’t count because they’re not CELEBS!!!!

One newspaper set up another singer/presenter “celeb” in a drug-deal sting and has whooped with joy about it ever since. One front page headline speculated she may be suicidal. Obviously, such headlines are unlikely to help her mental health, and the people responsible for the article are unlikely to give a damn. The ethics of entrapment are themselves dubious, but to use pretense of “public service” as cover for ongoing public attacks and speculation is, again, beneath contempt.

What if one day there is actually is a CELEB SUICIDE!!!! The toxic tabloids will have hit the jackpot, but will not be able to say so. So they will weep crocodile tears and devote pages of utter dross to the tragedy, in the hope that once again it pushes up circulation.

Remember how they all said they’d behave after Diana died? How long did that last? Not long, because they think we’re well dense.

It’s one thing that the tawdry end of the press fixate on addiction problems as gossip-fodder. People who’ll spy on murdered children and exploit child abuse for political attacks will sink to very low depths.

But who on earth at the likes of the BBC thinks a story of a person on the telly having taken drugs is worth frequent updates?

Obviously, they didn’t manage give so much attention to HSBC money laundering for Mexican drug cartels under a bloke who became a trade minister. But that only involves systemic corruption and mass beheadings of NON CELEBRITIES, so is a bit of a “yawn” really.
