Algerian Bloodbath : This I know.

This is a crude piece for now, but vital in view of the siege to get a gist over, because Islamaphobic hate may well go up in consequence. And it is important to note how complex these things inevitably are, regardless of simplistic bilge passing itself off as “news”.

As a consequence of imperialism, North Africa and The Middle East have seen generations of Western backed regimes founded on horrifying tyranny in order to suppress Islamists. I happen to consider such Islamism a blasphemy, but that is by the by. This was not so much a reaction to perceived and actual negative aspects of Islamism, but more because Islamists wouldn’t necessarily do things “our” way. Tyranny doesn’t matter a bit. What matter is that the tyrant is your guy.

Some crazy regimes exist(ed) in opposition to this model, like Iran or Libya. Crazyness also increased in opposition within those countries. Functioning underground it sometimes gave fierce resistance,  leading to civil wars and near civil wars.

Under such conditions as in Iraq (our guys for most of Saddam’s regime) Islam became more loon. People often think no one won out of the 2003 war crimes and the ensuing mess (a separate crime given occupying forces responsibility for security under Geneva Conventions). But Iran won because pro Iranian forces now dominate much of Iraq.

Saudi is an even weirder case: The monarchy (quite a phoney line) is super loon, and the Islamists who hate them are too. It is, after all, the nation that brought us CIA asset Tim Osman, sorry Osama Bin Laden. They are our friends. An “Arab spring” moment there would be proper awkward for the death dealing scum AKA arms trade who make vast amounts of money in corrupt deals with them. You may recall that an investigation into BAE Systems was dropped by Labour after the Saudi government threatened to withdraw intel on what AQ are up to – because they know a great deal about it of course.

That’s right – our friends making terrorist threats, but they buy our weapons so it’s cool.

Of all these open war situations with vicious twats on both sides, I doubt anywhere is a starker example than Algeria. The likes of BP are also utter scum. Don’t doubt it for a second (Finding out what they got up to in Nigeria won’t take a second anyway, unless you’re internet is a bit slow).

Whatever we are being told is subject to being complete smoke and mirrors.

“Crazy Muslims” is the simplest narrative to push amidst all the confusion and pressure for pro corporate and pro Western bias. The truth is it’s Crazy Muslims, Crazy governments crazy corpo-scum and crazy west governments backing those corpo-scum.

When nasty fools call one another nasty fools they are, of course, correct.

Over and out for now. But be careful what you start believing, and remember that what isn’t said probably matters a great deal more than what is.

Thanks for reading. Thoughts welcome.

One Response to Algerian Bloodbath : This I know.

  1. Hi Steve

The Algerian ‘dark years’ were a blue print for the current GWOT, Algerian DSR continues to run the alleged AQIM much in the same way that the Pakistani ISI runs the Taliban for the benefit of their patrons but also to further their own local interests.
Algeria uis behind the current deastabilisation of Mali through the Touareg / Jihadi incursion into Northern Mali which has now attracted the warth of the French and Ecowas forces, its all part of a larger plan to further militarise all of the Sahel and ultimately all areas that are of strategic value or resource value ie Minerals Oil, Uranium. recommended reading The Dark Sahara – Jeremy Keenan.
